Adjacent is Kingwood House Stables, built for Major Dick Hern by Sheikh Hamdam Al Maktoum for whom we also have a small team. These horses are overseen jointly with my father Barry and it has been a real pleasure to be back working with him again after 26 years. All of the horses share the fantastic facilities including the magnificent Farncombe Down grass which we were able to use uninterrupted through the entire season as the 150 year old turf has such a cushion. To complement the grass we have two Polytrack gallops and other aids, include a spa, several horsewalkers and a treadmill.
We have managed 27 winners in 2013 with a 13% strike rate and almost 50% of our runners finished in the first four. Boomerang Bob flew the flag with his Leisure Stakes win and stays in training for next year when our objective will be to raise the quality of the horses. Watch this space, or better still come to Lambourn and see the set-up for yourselves.
